Alexis Wagner

Labatt Breweries of Canada‎- Brewing Group Manager                                                                Saint John's, Newfoundland

Alexis graduated as a from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Biological Engineering and a minor in Food Engineering. She received the highest undergraduate convocation award as an internationally recognized nanoscale biopolymer researcher, founder of Guelph Golden Gears volunteer network, three-term Engineering Society VP Academic, student senator, Academic All-Canadian varsity athlete, and youth field hockey coach. She also received the Canadian Society for Bioengineering Design Project Award for her bioreactor design project on Kombucha, a fermented tea, uncovering the scientific background behind an ancient bioprocess becoming an important sector of the beverage industry.

After graduation, Alexis moved to St. John’s, Newfoundland to work for Labatt Breweries of Canada and has since joined several boards that focus on food education and policy. She is looking forward to identifying new markets for Canada’s agricultural and bioproduct exports.


Jared Henry

Sussex Regional High School
Sussex, New Brunswick

Jared is a grade 12 student at Sussex Regional High School in New Brunswick. He is interested in politics, business and economics as well as history and law. Jared believes that an understanding of these topics is fundamental to being a force for effective change in both the local and global community. He looks forward to bringing his community of Sussex to the world through the Junior Team Canada trade mission to China.

Sana Khan

Fluor Ltd - Junior Contracts Administrator
Calgary, AB

Sana recently graduated from the University of Calgary with a Commerce degree in Management. She is now the Junior Contracts Administrator at Fluor Ltd.  Before her work at Fluor, she took up an Internship at the United Nations in the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Management. Prior to that she worked at a social entrepreneurship start-up while volunteering with the UN Women organization. San is currently working as an E-Commerce Operations Consultant in Calgary. She is excited to represent both the non-profit and educations sectors on her first Junior Team Canada Mission. 


Harrison Hart

Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School
De Winton, Alberta

Harrison is currently completing grade eleven at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School. He has been heavily involved with various school groups ranging from Model United Nations and Round Square to being captain of the volleyball and track & field teams. Harrison has recently completed his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and has been an advocate for the program in his school and local community. He is excited to meet new people and learn more about Chinese culture on this JTC trade mission. .

Mary Gao

Lester B. Pearson United World Collegiate                                                                           Calgary, AB 

Mary is currently completing her first year at Lester B. Pearson United World Collegiate of the Pacific. She is an active volunteer in Calgary with organizations such as Breast Cancer Canada and Youth Central as well as an active leaders in her school, managing the pottery program and a teen volunteer group. Her passion lies in behavioural economics, educations and business. She is extremely excited to be a representative of Canada with JTC and looks forward to connecting local businesses with those in China. 

John Kwon

University of Western Ontario                                                                                               Richmond Hill, ON 

John is heading into his second year at UWO studying business management and organization. He is a passionate student who is involved in numerous clubs. He also seeks various volunteering opportunities in the community. John previously represented his region in Iqaluit, NU with Global Vision at the Arctic Youth Ambassador Summit. He looks forward to once again representing his community and Canadian education institutions on the Junior Team Canada mission to China. 

Charles-Hugo Gagné

Champlain College                                                                                                                           Saint Hyacinthe, Québec

Charles-Hugo just graduated from Champlain College as a member of the Honour Roll and the Dean's List where he studied social sciences. At College, he was a member of the ones Democrats and the Model United National club. Charles has also participated in the Parliament Etudiant du Quebec, a one-week non-partisan simulation at the National Assembly of Quebec. Charles is playing Lacrosse at a competitive level where ha has gained significant leadership skills. He is looking forward to continuing his studies in civil and common law at the University of Ottawa next September where he will focus on corporate and financial law. 

Michel Kingma-Lord

Université Laval                                                                                                                        Québec, Québec

Michel is currently completing his Bachelors degree with minors in management, industrial relations, psychology and entrepreneurship at Université Laval. Michel has taken part in many leadership activities such as National Model United Nations (where he served as president and treasurer), social clubs and volunteering for MIRA and LEUCAN. He has also worked on his own start-up company. Michel is passionate about the environment, industrial technologies and globalization. He is honoured to have been chosen to represent and forge partnerships between Canadian and Chinese businesses in the upcoming Junior Team Canada mission. 

Scott Rairdan

Dalhousie University                                                                                                                Halifax, Nova Scotia

Scott is currently in his first year at Dalhousie University where he studies Sustainability and Management. Scott is very involved in the club scene at university as well as student government where he serves his fellow students in several roles. He has been heavily involved in Global Vision programs over the past year, participating in the regional Round Tables, the Arctic Youth Ambassador Summit in Iqaluit and a JTC trade mission to Peru. Scott is looking forward to representing Canadian education institutions in China to help further their brand awareness in this rapidly growing market as a member of Junior Team Canada. 

Talal Khan

University of Western Ontario                                                                                                              Mississauga, Ontario

As a passionate student leader, an involved community member and an avid philanthropist, Talal hopes to empower and inspire other youth on the JTC trade mission to China. He is currently in his second year at Western University majoring in accounting and finance. Before joining JTC, Talal has been instrumental in his dedicated pursuit of thousands of dollars in scholarships, bursaries and grants for students in Ontario through his executive work with the Ontario Red Cross and Economic Club of Canada. He is looking forward to experiencing China and promoting Canadian institutions to prospective international students. 

Ibrahim Fayyaz

York University                                                                                                                                         Mississauga, Ontario

Ibrahim will be starting his first year at York University's Schulich School of Business this fall. He is highly involved in his community and currently serves as President of the Young Liberals of Mississauga-Erindale since 2012. Ibrahim has worked on education issues with the Ontario Ministry of Education and Finance and has served on DECA Ontario's advisory board. He is passionate about entrepreneurship and start ups and is extremely excited to investigate these areas while in China with JTC.
