Junior Team Canada Trade and Development Mission to Peru 2020
Global Vision led a Junior Team Canada Trade and Development Mission to Peru to strengthen our cultural and economic ties between Canada and Peru in 2020. Following our successful Missions to Peru in 2015, 2016, and 2019, our 2020 Mission was focused on promoting Canadian businesses and organizations in the rapidly growing Peruvian economy. Given that Canada and Peru are both members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which was just signed in May 2018, this Mission was timely.
From February 12-21, 2020, Junior Team Canada Ambassadors focused on showcasing Canadian secondary and post-secondary education opportunities for Peruvian students. We engaged with Peruvian students through school visits, presentations, receptions, and meetings with international recruitment agencies and Ministry of Education officials. Furthermore, Junior Team Canada also identified trade opportunities for Canadian companies and organizations in several sectors including: agriculture, environment, finance, and mining and natural resources. To accomplish this, we worked closely with the Canadian Embassy in Peru and the Peruvian Canadian Chamber of Commerce to coordinate opportunities to engage Peruvian industry, government, community, and youth leaders.
Finally, Junior Team Canada Ambassadors spent the time ahead of the mission partnering with businesses, governments, educational institutions, and organizations in their communities and individually raising CAD 4,500.00 in sponsorship and upon mandates to fulfill when abroad.
